1. OSHA does not have a PEL (Permissible Exposure Level) for Dimethyl Sulfoxide.
2. The FDA lists DMSO as a substance that is permitted for direct addition to food for human consumption as a residual solvent
3. DMSO is approved by the FDA for the intravesical treatment of interstitial cystitis.
4. DMSO freezes at 65.6 °F
Ultra High Purity Liquid DMSO 99.995%+ Dimethyl Sulfoxide Freezes at 18.5 °C and 65.3°F.
If your DMSO arrives with crystals or has solidified, there is no need to worry. This is entirely normal and can be easily turned back into a liquid with no effect on the product. Because DMSO freezes at 65 Degrees F, it can be turned back into a liquid by allowing it to thaw out above this temperature; however, it will take some time. You can run warm water over the container if you want it to thaw quickly.
Usage Guidelines
Always wear gloves, safety goggles, and protective clothing.
Use only in well-ventilated environments.
Avoid contact with toxic substances when handling DMSO, as it enhances absorption through skin.
Generl Information
You will notice we package in plastic containers. In the past, if DMSO were packaged in plastic containers using BPA (Bis Phenol A) as a plasticizer, it would easily leach into the DMSO and, therefore, be consumed or absorbed into the skin. Plastic Manufacturers no longer use BPA in containers.
Some customers prefer glass, while others do not mind storage in plastic. It's a matter of choice; we have tested all the containers we use for packaging DMSO including glass, to understand if there were anything toxic chemicals dissolving into the DMSO. The results were conclusive; we found absolutely no difference in composition between the glass and plastic containers after storing them for six months.
This DMSO and its ingredients are guaranteed to be manufactured in the USA only.
Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) is a naturally occurring dipolar aprotic organic solvent that is very nontoxic. It is found in many food products, from beer to milk, and has very low acute toxicity for animals, plants, and aquatic life. Many innovative uses for DMSO are currently being studied.
Dimethyl Sulfoxide is approved worldwide as an API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) for treating Interstitial Cystitis. Please remember that the FDA only approved this use in America. Unfortunately, according to FDA protocol, we cannot make any special claims, no matter the incredible feedback we have received regarding the personal use of DMSO in relieving pain and inflammation by many of our customers.
Skin contact with DMSO has been extensively studied in humans and animals, using large dosages over an extended period. The studies have shown only minor effects, such as skin irritation, itching, and a burning sensation. No long-term detrimental effects have been observed from exposure to DMSO.
It's important to understand that pure Pharma-grade DMSO has no real odor. The constituents that cause this are dimethyl sulfide and bis-methyl thiosulfate. When manufactured on an industrial scale, these components are not removed and do not affect DMSO's performance properties in what the FDA has approved for medicinal use, for example. We refine the DMSO to remove any of these objectionable odor ingredients.
Unfortunately, some unscrupulous sellers of this product will have you believe odorless DMSO is not the same because it has been purified. These people are in no way qualified "Chemists" to make personal assumptions based on their idea of how chemistry works.
For long-term stability, DMSO should always be stored in a dry, dark place. It is hygroscopic, so it should always be closed when unused. DMSO will slowly degrade over time when exposed to direct light, so it is best stored somewhere cool, dry, and dark.
If DMSO is stored correctly, it will be useful for at least two years from the date of purchase.
